Using titles like “Bahubali,” “Don,” “Dabang,” or similar heroic labels for gangsters in news reporting does create a harmful psychological impact on society. When media frames criminals using larger-than-life terms, it unintentionally elevates them in public imagination. This can blur the difference between fear and admiration, especially among impressionable viewers.

Modern news reporting often shows a troubling trend: gangsters being described with heroic or powerful titles like “bahubali,” “gangster king,” “local don,” or “area strongman.” While reporters may use such language to attract viewers or add drama, the impact on society is far from harmless.

When the media repeatedly glorifies criminals with dramatic titles, it sends a subtle message that these individuals possess extraordinary strength, influence, or charisma. Instead of being presented as lawbreakers who damage society, they are framed as figures of power. Such reporting style can make the public perceive gangsters as someone to admire, fear, or even emulate.

This distortion affects the youth the most. Teenagers and young adults who already feel frustrated, powerless, or socially neglected may see these labels as symbols of respect. The glorification creates a false image that criminal behavior leads to fame and authority. Over time, this can influence attitudes, normalize aggression, and desensitize people to violence.

The media’s use of exaggerated titles also weakens confidence in law enforcement. When gangsters are portrayed as unstoppable or dominant, citizens may feel that the system is helpless before them. This perception benefits criminals and harms the larger social fabric.

The responsibility of news channels is to present facts, not to dramatize criminals. Reporters should avoid language that glorifies or romanticizes illegal behavior. Clear reporting, neutral terminology, and context about the harm caused by these criminals create a healthier understanding.

When media presents gangsters as powerful icons, society absorbs that message, consciously or subconsciously. Crime should never be made glamorous. A responsible society must ensure that criminals are seen for what they are—individuals who harm communities, not heroes worth admiring.
